RC loses first GRC game, then bounces back for win

Rush City suffered its first conference loss of the season on May 3 as the Onamia Panthers edged the Tigers 4-3.
Rush City had plenty of opportunities to win, but could not put runs across.

The Tigers scored two runs in the first on back to back walks by Tony Webb and Jacob Bosman. A single by Adam Best knocked in a run.

The third Tiger run came in the seventh on a triple by Best and an RBI sacrifice fly by John Bosman.

Bosman took the loss even though he pitched an outstanding game, going six innings and giving up four hits while walking none and striking out eight.

"What hurt John was that he hit two batters in key situations who came around to score," said Coach Bob Schlagel.

In addition to a solid performance on the mound, Bosman had two RBI on two sacrifice flies.
Best had three hits, including a triple, and one RBI.

On May 5 the Tigers bounced back from their loss with a 12-2 shellacking of Ogilvie in five innings.

The Tigers opened their scoring in the third inning with one run on a single by Best. But the damage got done in the fourth when RC cut loose for six runs on three singles by Jake Bosman, Dan Gamache and Ray Grabau. Ogilvie pitchers helped the Tigers as well, giving up three bases on balls and hitting one batter.

The Tigers added five more runs in the fifth, with key hits by Zac Beck, Josh Ehrreich and Dan Gamache.

Best was the winning pitcher. He gave up two runs, three hits, one walk and struck out five in five innings. Ehrreich had a single and a double, while Dan Gamache had two singles and two RBI and Ray Grabau two singles.

"In this game we received good pitching from Adam Best and played pretty well defensively. However, even though we scored 12 runs, we really didn't hit the ball solidly. Hopefully we can get on track with our hitting and become consistent."
