The North Branch tennis team is still looking for its first win of the year as it enters conference tournament play on Thursday and Friday of this week.
In recent weeks the team has dropped matches to Forest Lake, Foley and Champlin Park, all by a score of 7-0.
Blake Anderson put up the team's only close match against Forest Lake, but lost 2-6, 2-6.
David Stark stepped up against Foley, losing 3-6, 4-6. Coach Tom McLaughlin was encouraged by progress of his 1 and 2 doubles teams of Ben Gertz/Kevan Andrews and Dan Mork/Tony Rollins, saying they had improved even though they lost their matches.
Stark and Anderson both played close matches against Champlin Park, with Stark losing his first set in a tie-breaker.
The RRC tourney will start at 9 a.m. on Thursday and Friday at Mora.
