Sarah Anna Anderson was born in Nessel Township, Chisago County on Jan. 23, 1928 and was the daughter of Rudolph and Arlene Peterson.
She grew up on a farm located east of Stanchfield and attended the nearest rural school which was two miles away. Growing up the oldest of the Peterson children, Sarah was responsible for much of the work done in their home.
All of her life Sarah enjoyed dancing and met her future husband, Andy Anderson, on a Saturday evening at a dance at the Eagles Hall in Rush City. They made their home in Excelsior, Minn.
Sarah possessed a great sense of humor that was liberally sprinkled with Scandinavian wit. A very organized person and an avid reader, she was fascinated with genealogy and her own family history. She enjoyed doing crafts, as well as sewing and quilting, and working in her flower and vegetable gardens. She and Andy enjoyed fishing and dancing, just as they had from the very beginning of their relationship, and she really loved to beat him at a game of cards. She was deeply religious and strong in her convictions.
Sarah died suddenly on April 20, 2005 at her home near
Erhard, Minn. at the age of 77 years.
Sarah is survived by her husband Alton ìAndyî Anderson of Erhard, her children David Anderson and wife Renee of St. Louis Park, Rebecca Anderson and Cliff Johnson of North Hollywood, Calif, Kathleen ìKayî Furr and husband Paul of Bloomington, five grandchildren, sisters Lois Falk and husband Jim of Isle, Grace Prokasky and husband Dick of Cottage Grove, brother Tom Peterson and wife Sue of Corsicana, Texas; sister-in-law Marvel Anderson of Rush City and many nieces and nephews.
Sarah Anderson was preceded in death by her parents and her brother-in-law Everett Anderson.
Rev. Laurie OíShea officiated at funeral services Tuesday afternoon at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Rush City with Dianne Kirchberg and Jan Goebel providing music. The casket bearers included Cliff Johnson, Paul Furr, Mike Falk, Keith Prokasky, Mike Chatterton and Rick Scott with the interment in the First Lutheran Cemetery at Rush City. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Funeral & Cremation Service of Rush City *Olson Chapel*
