Members of the "Smelt Brigade" were hard at it behind the scenes all day on April 30 at the annual North Branch Fire Dept. smelt fry. The brigade, which consisted of firefighters' sons and daughters, worked for hours setting up tables and chairs and preparing the fish for cookingóand enjoying getting their hands gooey with batter.
