Posted: 11/16/05

Lynn Morrison, R.N., one of the coordinators of the first Fairview Lakes HomeCaring & Hospice Festival of Trees says ìPrepare to be Dazzled,î Friday, Nov. 25, and Saturday, Nov. 26. The Festival of Trees begins at 6:30 p.m. Friday, with a gala opening at the Meadows on Fairview, an assisted living facility in Wyoming. Guests will enjoy wine tasting compliments of WineHaven, hors díoeuvres, desserts and musical entertainment.

Free family-friendly activities will take place at Meadows 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 26, including a Santa visit from 9 a.m. to noon, local musicians and the chance to purchase home-baked holiday cookies. Both days will feature decorated trees, swags and wreaths, all available for purchase. Decorations will range from the traditional to the unique and have been generously donated by individuals and business sponsors. Major sponsorship for the event is shared by Roberts Eckert Funeral Home and Forest Lake Floral.

ìFunds raised at the Festival will help ease the pain of children who have experienced the loss of a loved one with a new grief camp especially for children, and bring needed education on a variety of end-of-life issues, such as pain and symptom management and community resources,î said Morrison.

Tickets for the Friday gala are $20 and are available at the gift shop at Fairview Lakes Medical Center in Wyoming or by calling the Festival of Trees Hotline, (651) 257-7805.
