A course on child sexual abuse training for mandated reporters will be held Dec.1, 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. at the Chisago County Government Center, Room 142. Registration begins at 8 a.m.
Sponsors are CornerHouse Child Abuse Evaluation and Training Center, MN Department of Human Services and Chisago County Health and Human Services.
This is a one day seminar designed for teachers, counselors, nurses, advocates, child care providers and other professionals who have responsibility for mandated reporting of suspected child sexual abuse.
During this intensive course, mandated reporters will learn not only Minnesotaís reporting processes and the legal and social systemsí response to child sexual abuse; they will also learn a process to talk with children who they suspect may be victims of child sexual abuse.
There is also a session presented by the local child protection, law enforcement, and county attorneyís office which teaches how the local county system responds to reports of child maltreatment.
Attendance of the entire day is mandatory in order to receive a certificate of attendance. This course is pre-approved for continuing education credits the Minnesota POST Board and has been approved in the past by the MN Board of Social Work.
This training is appropriate for all mandated reporters.
Registration is free, but is limited to 40 participants.
