Thomas L. Vukonich

Thomas L. Vukonich, age 62, of Chisholm, Minn. passed away suddenly in Omaha, Neb. on Oct. 23, 2005 while visiting his son.

Tom was born in Chisholm on Feb. 3, 1943. He served in the United States Air Force from 1962-1966. He worked at the Rocky Flats Nuclear Weapons Plant in Golden, Colo., and upon retiring returned to his native Minnesota in 1994.

A master wood-worker, he and his wife created many pieces of fine furniture. In addition they built remodeled and restored houses for 35 years. The last house restoration was featured in ėThis Old Houseî magazine. An avid writer, he wrote many articles for the county historical society as well as three books concerning historical topics. Tom loved to travel, and with his wife traveled extensively exploring much of North America over the years.

Tom will live in the memories of his wife Paula, daughter Teri (Ed) Saxton, son James (Teri) Vukonich and mother Florence Vukonich. ėGrampsî will be missed dearly by his seven grandchildren, Samantha, Tamara, Alexandra, Staci, Mandi, Lance and Tyler.

A Memorial Mass was held 11 a,m. on Friday, Oct. 28, at St. Josephís Catholic Church in Chisholm with Fr. Jon Wild celebrating. Inurnment was at Chisholm Cemetery. Arrangements are with Rupp Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Chisholm.
