William ìBillî Studt was born on Nov. 26, 1916 in St. Paul, Minn. the only child of William and Marie (Grote) Studt.
At two years old the family moved to a farm in the Greeley area. William attended the Greeley rural school through the eighth grade before taking over the family farm. William grew up surrounded by many uncles, aunts, and cousins, and enjoyed many sports as a child and adult; playing on the Greeley hockey team and for the Braham baseball team. He continued to follow sports all through his life; not missing many ìTwinsî games.
In 1945 William met Luella Johnson. They were united in marriage on Jan. 6 1946, and to this union a daughter Sharon was born. They enjoyed the farm life with many visits with friends and family; going out dancing at the many dances in the area, and playing a card came or two now and then.
In 1970 they moved to Rush City where William worked for the Rush City Coop and then at the Interstate Lumber Company. During this time they took many vacations around the U.S. and Mexico; including trips to Hawaii, Washington D.C. and the Rocky Mountains with family and friends.
Before and after Williamís retirement in the mid 1980ís he enjoyed his large garden in the backyard, giving extra produce to friends and relatives. William also enjoyed having his grandchildren around to help and teach his gardening as well as life skills.
For the last years with declining health William has resided at Hillcrest Health Care Center in Rush City enjoying the time with all his new friends. Even with the loss of Luella in 2002 after over 56 years of marriage William continued to enjoy visitors and reminiscing about all the great times in his life.
