Local charities are falling short of their goals this year due to the redirection of donations to hurricane relief funds. Family Pathways of North Branch notes there are families in the community that wonít have holiday dinners if they donít receive donations soon. In fact, some programs such as ìAdopt a Familyî may not be possible this year due to the shortage of food and funds.
Local charities do not have the means to compete with national coverage of recent natural disasters. They are counting on the community to support efforts to raise funds for local families.
In light of that, agents at RE/MAX will be holding a Jail and Bail, hoping to raise at least $3000 for the Holiday Meal Program. RE/MAX will also be a collection site for food and toy donations. If anyone would like to help the food shelf, they are looking for donations of turkeys, hams, and money to purchase remaining holiday meal items. ìSanta Anonymousî donations will gladly be accepted as well.
