Teenagers today are facing choices and consequences that teens from previous generations couldnít even imagine. Thatís why it is so important for parents of teens to hear the powerful program: ěTen Seconds Can Change Your Life Forever,î by Russell J. Simon, Jr., set for 7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 14, at the Sunrise River School in North Branch.
Fairview Lakes Health Services is hosting this collaborative, communitywide event.
ěRussell Simon is a dynamic speaker who talks to over 250,000 teens and parents throughout the U.S. each year on being set free from cycles of drug/alcohol abuse, addiction, and violence,î said Carla Norelius, Fairview Lakes Health Services. ěPrevious audiences say that Simon tackles tough issues with honesty, insight and passion.
He helps the audience find hope in the choices they are making moment-by-moment, day-by-day. This is a message that will prepare anyone listening ń parent or teen ń to make good choices and decisions.î
Simon writes, ěIn my experience traveling and speaking to hundreds of thousands of teens across America, Iíve had the privilege of seeing many lives impacted and changed. Day after day students and parents comment to me, ëI finally get it!í or ëIt makes sense to me now!í
ěI firmly believe that teens need to hear positive messages about life choices over and over again, and from as many different voices as possible until eventually it sinks in,î says Simon.
ěI believe that first and foremost, they must hear it from parents in the home, then it must be reinforced in our schoolsÖevery so often it is a powerful experience to have these same values echoed by someone who is not their parents or teacher.î
For Kids Sake is a collaborative program of Chisago County Public Health, Community Partnership with Youth and Families, Fairview Lakes Health Services, North Branch Early Childhood Family Education, North Branch Community Education and the Youth Service Bureau.
Registration is requested but not required. Admission is $4 per adult or $6 per couple.
