Marjorie Marilyn Hemmer Heinrich, age 73, died at her home in Rush City, Minn. on Sept. 26, 2005.
She was born Sept.13, 1932 at Flandreau, So. Dak., and was the daughter of Francis and Margaret Evelyn (Scofield) Hemmer Skluzacek.
In the 1930ís, the Hemmer family moved to Beroun, Minnesota, and later when Marjorie was in the 4th grade, they moved to Rush City, Minnesota. She graduated Rush City High School in 1950, and then moved to the Twin Cities where she was employed at Honeywell and Sears & Roebuck.
On Sept. 19, 1954, Marjorie was united in marriage to Douglas Heinrich at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Rush City. They made their first home in south Minneapolis and later purchased a new home in Circle Pines, Minn.
When Doug retired in the 1980ís, they returned to Rush City and purchased a home on Main Street across from Sacred Heart Church where Marjorie pursued her love of sewing, painting, and quilting. She had a passion for quilting and soon became known locally as the ìquilt lady.î Marjorie was very active at Sacred Heart Catholic Parish in Rush City and her goal was to impart strong Christian values to her entire family. Being a social person, she also loved having time for coffee with her friends and entertaining.
Marjorie is survived by Douglas, her husband of 51 years; her children, Julie Ann (Mike) Huddleston of St. Louis, MO, Teresa (Chris) Jardis of Denver, Colo., Thomas (Connie) Heinrich of Brooklyn Park, Minn.; grandchildren Lindsey Huddleston, Dale Huddleston, Karen Jardis, Jack Heinrich, Brian Heinrich, Courtney Howe, and Brittany Howe; brothers and sisters: Harold (Donna) Hemmer of Maplewood, Minn., Robert (Audrey) Hemmer of Forest Lake, Minn., Larry Hemmer of Rush City, Sandra (Willis) McLain of Trade Lake Wisc., David (Barbara) Hemmer of St. Cloud, Minn.; sister-in-law: Kathryn Hemmer of South Dakota; brothers-on-law: Orville (Franny) Heinrich of Rush City and Donald (Nancy) Heinrich of New Brighton, Minn.; many nieces, nephews, and friends. She was preceded in death by her father, Francis W. Hemmer, and her mother, Margaret Skluzacek, her son Kirby Heinrich and brother Donald Hemmer.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Thursday, Sept. 29, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Rush City with Father Xavier Thelakkatt presiding. Music for the service was provided by organist Nancy Sterk and soloist Paula Belland. Honorary casket bearers were Jim Thorn and Bill Schneider. Three of Marjorieís grandchildren were active casket bearers, Jack Heinrich, Brian Heinrich, and Dale Huddleston, as well as Dick Ordner, Bob Erickson, and Chris Jardis. Interment was in the Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Rush City. Arrangements were entrusted to the Funeral & Cremation Service, Olson Chapel, Rush City, Minn.
