The North Branch tennis teamís season came to an end on Oct. 7 with a 0-7 loss to Anoka in the first round of sectional play.
Coach Kristin Unverzagt called it ěa heartbreaking loss.î
ěThe team was fired up and wanted to play hard so that they would know when they stepped off the court after the match, they would not have any regrets as to how the match was played or ended,î she said.
Unverzagt said the final scores do not indicate how close the matches were. ěUnfortunately, we were unable to close them out and capitalize on the close points,î she said.
The team made huge strides this year, improving to 12-11 after finishing 2-19 last year.
ěIt has been such a fulfilling season on and off the court,î Unverzagt said. ěThe girls work so hard as athletes and students, and are great individuals. It is hard to say goodbye to such a great group of seniors, but they have done a great job leading by example. They have given the team many positive goals to look forward to next season.î
