Mrs. Vivikka K. Mason, age 81, Minn., and passed away quietly and serenely on Sept. 1, 2005 at the Sharp Hospice Lakeview Home in La Mesa, Calif.

Vivikka Orwoll was born Dec. 4, 1923 in North Branch to Mr. and Mrs. G.M. Orwoll. She attended North Branch School. Her father was superintendent of the school from 1922 to 1958.

She and her husband Luther (Lute) first moved to San Diego in 1951 as he was recalled in the Korean War. They have lived in Point Loma most of that time. Vivikka was known for her many activities ñ including the MAKUA unit of the Childrenís Home Society, the Childrenís Hospitalís LA PLAYA unit and enjoyed her association with the annual Christmas Home Tour put on by All Souis Episcopal Church in Point Loma. She assisted many friends in making their home more quaint and livable. She had a masterful ìtouchî in that category as well as Bridge and gardening.

She leaves behind her husband ìLuteî and two children; daughter Kristy from Green Valley, Ariz., and son Tadd now living in San Diego; two granddaughters Ashley and Chelsea. She has a brother Gregg Orwoll from Rochester, Minn.; sister-in-law Laverne and five nieces and nephews from Minnesota.

ìVivi,î as she was known, lived with her husband the past few years in Green Valley, Ariz., returning earlier this year to her favorite location in Point Loma. She will be missed by many here on earth, but we know is in better hands ìUpstairs.î

Funeral services were held Thursday, Sept. 22, at 11 a.m., at All Souis Episcopal Church, 1475 Catalina Blvd.
