Gale Elden Lundeen, the son of Elden and Viola (Reese) Lundeen was born April 29, 1937 at Harris, Minn. He died very suddenly of a heart attack on Aug. 28, 2005 at Unity Hospital in Fridley, Minn. at the age of 68 years.
Gale grew up and attended schools in the communities of Cambridge and North Branch, Minn., and was a graduate of Rush City High School in Rush City, Minn.
After graduating high school, Gale enlisted in the United
States Navy. He served an active tour of duty of four years and two months in aviation ordinance with Patrol Squadron 19. His military obligations took him to Texas, Alaska, and Japan, and following his honorable discharge he served and additional two years of service in the United States Naval Reserve.
In 1961, Gale married the former Connie Schneider of New Brighton, Minn. Three children were born to them, Loren, Lawrence, and Gaylynn. They made their home in New Brighton and later lived in Forest Lake, Harris, and North Branch, Minn.
Always a hard worker, Gale helped on the family farms while growing up and as a teenager he worked at the turkey barns in Harris, Minn. When he returned to Minnesota after his discharge from the Navy, he worked at various jobs doing roofing, water-proofing, and blacktopping. In the early 1960ís he was employed at Honeywell where some of his work involved projects connected with the Apollo space program.
In 1971, Gale began what would be a 26 year career with what was then known as Northern Natural Gas Company. During the ensuing years the company would go through several mergers, acquisitions, and name changes that would include Inter-North and Enron. He retired in 1997, and he and Connie moved to Danbury, Wis. in early months of 2000.
Gale loved working with his hands. He enjoyed gardening,
woodworking, and repairing anything that needed to be fixed. His hobbies included fishing, bowling, cribbage, and all types of games played with his children and grandchildren. His family was the light of his life and he would do anything he possibly could for them. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Gale is survived by his wife, Connie; sons and daughter-in-law: Loren and September Lundeen of Waldorf, MD and Lawrence Lundeen of Columbia Heights, Minn.; daughter and son-in-law: Gaylynn and Stuart McCarty of Katy, Texas; grandchildren: Logan and Duncan Lundeen, Austin and Madison McCarty; brother and sister-in-law: Wayne and Laurie Lundeen of Danbury; sisters and brother-in-law: Cindy and Swede Crooks of St. Paul, Minn. and Darla Walters of Vadnais Heights, Minn.; brother-in-law: Norton and Ruby Erickson; many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Elden and Viola Lundeen, brothers Donald, Dennis, and Harvey Lundeen, and his sisters Thelma Erickson, Genelda Campeau, and Ruby Campeau.
Mass of Christian Burial was at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 2, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Rush City with Father Xavier Thelakkatt officiating. Organist for the service was Nancy Sterk and soloist was Paula Belland. Casket bearers were Todd Crooks, Joseph Schneider, Charles Kline, Jeff Lundeen, Clint Crooks, Jon Schneider, Dennis Walters, and Brent Lundeen.
Interment was at the Oak Grove Cemetery in Harris. Arrangements were entrusted to the Funeral & Cremation Service,
Olson Chapel, Rush City, Minn.
