Shirley Olson Swain, age 69, passed away at Pitt County Memorial Hospital, Greenville, North Carolina on Aug. 30, 2005 due to multi myeloma and complications.
She was born May 1, 1936 in Harris, Minn. to Tarnard and Doris (Calander) Olson. Shirley graduated from North Branch High School and married Larry Swain of Columbia, No. Carolina.
She is preceded in death by husband, parents and the father of her great grandchild Kaylee.
Shirley is survived by her children: Carolyn (Dallas) Simmons and son Alex of Columbia, N.C., Sharolyn (Joe) Roughton and daughters Lauren of Winterville, N.C., Robert (Beverly) Swain and children Andrew and Sarah of Columbia, David Swain and children: Kassi and daughter Kaylee; Cameron and Dylen of Manteo, N.C., Charles Swain and son Harley of Aberdeen, N.C.; step daughter
Debbie Swain Lyttle of Jeffersonville, Ind., sister Delores and Terry, along with her extended family numerous cousins, uncle Donald, aunts: Loretta, Ethel and Loyda.
Shirley was very much loved by her family and well liked by the people of Tyrrell County, North Carolina where she was Director of the Board of Elections until her death.
Funeral services were held at the Free Well Baptist Church, Malachi Chapel, Columbia, N.C.
