The North Chisago Historical Society has been holding fund-raisers for a future museum building. The historical societyís artifacts were required to be removed from the historical building on the county fairgrounds in Rush City. The group is currently exploring building and site options for their own museum.
Thousands of historical artifacts have been donated over the last three decades by residents of the Rush City, Harris, Sunrise and North Branch areas and have been maintained by the North Chisago Historical group.
In August, the society held an ice cream social and hay ride fund-raiser at the Leap of Faith farm east of Harris. Beginning Monday, Sept. 19, a three-week, two-hours per session course will be taught on the history of North Branch.
If interested, register through the North Branch Area Community Education.
The course will be taught by Max Malmquist and will help kick off events celebrating the 125th anniversary of the village of North Branch (2006). Proceeds go to the new museum.
A third fund-raiser for the museum is the raffle of a fish house (see last yearís at right). The building is 8í x 6í, wood frame and insulated. It is on runners and was built by society members. It could also be used as a childís playhouse or small storage building. Tickets for the fish house are $1 and can be obtained by calling Carl Heinrich at (320) 358-4525, Carmen Anderson at (320) 358-4215 or Max Malmquist at (651) 674-4610. The drawing will be Dec. 6.
