Martha Westman, left, was on hand for the Anderson Rock Creek Threshing Show last Saturday to teach the youngsters how butter was made years ago.
She likes to provide something for the kids to do at threshing shows after the tractor parades, she said, and give them a little history lesson at the same time. These three youngsters took turns cranking the church, but it was Jacob Busch, in the center, who discovered that the churning gets a little harder as it becomes butter. Jacob and his sister Katie are from Saginaw, Minn., and Jacob Edwards, far right, is from Elk River.
