Annetta Faye Zaudtke
Annetta Faye Zaudtke was born to James and Alpha (Lyseth) Maxwell on Jan. 20, 1924, at their home in Cloverdale, Minn. She was baptized at St. Patrickís Catholic Church in Hinckley, and was a graduate of Hinckley High School. Faye attended teacherís training school, where she received a two-year degree, and started her teaching career at Duxbury Country School.
She met her husband Herb while teaching there when he and a friend were hunting in the area and decided to go meet the teacher. Faye married Herbert Louis Zaudtke on July 12, 1947 at St. Johnís Lutheran Church in Kroschel, Minn. After marriage, they bought the Ted Carlson farm west of Hinckley in 1947, where they resided for over 50 years.
Faye had a passion for teaching and taught a few years before having a family. She
went back to school later in life for her four year degree, and received her diploma in the summer of 1971. She then proceeded to teach at the Kroschel School, Pomroy School, and Sandstone Elementary School. Many students of Fayeís have contacted her over the years. She loved to hear that she had made an impact on their lives, or that she was their favorite teacher, along with the many stories.
In addition to teaching, Faye loved her children, canning, sewing, embroidery, playing cards, P.T.A., Homemakers Club, and school board. She also loved to travel, and spent time in Florida at her sonís and niecesí.
Faye loved spending time with her family, and always had a meal on the table for anyone who stopped by. She loved having her grandchildren over for stays, they always came home with stories for their parents and friends of all their experiences they had on the farm with Grandpa and Grandma. She loved to go fishing with Herb and had fun catching a fish or two more than him.
It was always fun for their children to watch Faye and Herb dance together. Herb would sometimes sing to her. They had a loving style all their own. Together they celebrated almost 51 years together. Their children feel very blessed to have been raised by loving, caring, and Christian parents.
Faye was so proud of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She loved to teach them everything that she could, and would sometimes would just sit and observe them. One word expressions of Faye from her family include; Family, Giving, Patient, Beautiful, Humble, Compassionate, Loving, Sweet, Warm, Peaceful, Kind, Caring, Teaching, Serene, Dedicated. Thank you Mom ñ you will always be in our hearts.
Faye passed away on Saturday, April 8, 2006 at Kanabec County Hospital, Mora, MN at the age of 82.
She was preceded in death by her husband Herb, 1 brother Ronald, and 1 sister Joyce.
Faye is survived by five sons; Royce (Debbie) of Chisago City, Dwight (Sue) of Stillwater, Duane of Hinckley, Tim (Cheryl) of Askov, Tom (Julie) of Hinckley, four daughters; Bette (Jim) Deming of Cromwell, Linda (Chuck) Wattnem of Askov, Penny (Phil) Russell of Plymouth, LuAnn Zaudtke of Hugo, 26 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, one brother; Darwin (Pat) Maxwell of Webster, Wisc., one sister; Evelyn Weber of Sauk Rapids, many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 13, 2006 at St. Paulís Lutheran Church, Hinckley, with Rev. Donald Stier officiating. Music by LuAnn and Tim Zaudtke. Visitation 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Tatting-Methven Funeral Home, Hinckley, and one hour prior to services on Thursday. Interment at Rosehill Cemetery, Hinckley. Pallbearers were Aaron Larson, Matt Wattnem, Jeremy and Ryan Arrington, Ryan, Casey, Timothy, Jesse and Nicholis Zaudtke, Kevin and Kyle Russell. Honorary Pallbearers were Gary Kirchmeier, Wayne Johnson, Warren Zaudtke, and Rollie Wiener. Arrangements by Tatting-Methven Funeral Home, Hinckley, Minn.
