Rush City baseball starts season 4-0

The Rush City baseball team started off its season 4-0 and out scored its opponents 39-9.
In their first game of the season, they cruised to a 9-1 victory against Barnum April 6.
Adam Best, the Most Valuable Player in the Great River Conference last year, was the winning pitcher. Junior Jake Bosman relieved Best and threw three innixngs for the save.
ìAdam Best and Jake Bosman thew pretty well for their first appearance of the year,î head coach Bob Schlagel said.
Junior Josh Ehrreich had two hits and had one RBI. Bosman also included two hits.
ìBeing our first game of the year and limited practice outside, I didnít think we played too bad,î Schlagel.
The Tigers didnít skip a beat. On Friday April 7, they played a double header against Wrenshall-Carlton. The first game they won 14-4.
Best had three hits including a double and triple. Bosman was on the mound again. He pitched four innings, struck out seven, walked two and gave up a hit.
ìWe received a nice outing from Bosman,î Schlagel said.
In the second game the Tigers won 11-2 in five innings. Noah Reichert pitched five innings, give up one run and had nine strike outs.
ìI was very pleased with the way Reichert threw the ball,î Schlagel said.
With Wrenshall-Carlton behind them, the Tigers faced a more significant challenge. But they rose to the challenge and edged Isle 4-5 on April 10.
The Tigers saved their scoring until the end. They scored two runs in the bottom of the seventh to the seal the victory.
Schlagel said they were lucky to walk away with a win.
ìThere really werenít any highlights in this game,î he said, ìWe struggled in all phases of the game.î
The Tigers next game is Tuesday, April 18 versus Hinckley-Finlayson.
