Aileen M. Olson
Aileen Marie Olson was born Sept. 6, 1916 in Stockholm, Wisc., and was the daughter of Reuben and Anna (Thid) Hjerpe.
She was baptized at the Stockholm Covenant Church and attended elementary school there. She graduated high school at Hayward, Wisconsin, and went on to attend business school in Minneapolis, Minn.
On March 22, 1946, Aileen was united in marriage to Orrin Olson. They made their home in Rush City, Minn. where they owned and operated the Olson Funeral Chapel, Olson Furniture Store, Rush City Ambulance Service, and later the Swanson Funeral Chapel
in Pine City, Minn.
Three children were born into the Olson family, their daughter Cheryl, and sons Mark and Loring.
Aileen was a licensed funeral director, bookkeeper for their businesses, served as secretary/treasurer of the American Legion Auxiliary for over 40 years, was a member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Rush City, and a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.
She passed away at the Grandview Christian Home in Cambridge, Minnesota on April 11, 2006 at the age of 89 years.
She is survived by her children: Cheryl of Richfield, Minn., Mark and special friend, Janice Roubinek, of Rush City, and Loring and his wife, Anne, of Rush City; grandchildren: Keith, Lisa, and Daniel; brother and sister-in-law: Roger and Ardys Hjerpe of Cross Lake, Minn; sister-in-law: Shirley Hjerpe of Rush City; and brother-in-law: Eugene Ashe; many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Reuben and Anna Hjerpe, husband Orrin, sisters Ruby, Lynette, and Alice, and brothers Stanley and Ellworth.
Funeral service was at 2 p.m.
Friday, April 14, at the Olson Funeral Chapel in Rush City with the Reverend Laurie OíShea officiating. Music for the service was provided by Pat Stenmo and Fred Meisner. Casket bearers were Bob Booth, Lee Olson, John OíNeal, Dennis Johnson, Virgil Thoner, and Cal Laursen. Interment was at the First Lutheran Cemetery in Rush City. Arrangements were by Olson Funeral Chapel, Rush City.
