Boyís lose opener, girls off to slow start

The weather was without a blemish as the Rush City boyís golf team won its first match of the season Monday, April 10 at the Cuyuna County Club.
The Tigers narrowly defeated Aitkin by four stokes 196-200. Kyle Peterson was medalist, shooting a 44 on the day.
ìItís tough to just go out and play a match as your first or second time on a course,î head coach Wayne Peshia said.
Ryan Swanson, Dan Swanson and Matt Saari all shot less than 52 during the day.
Mike Weitnauer was the low shooter for Aitkin. He shot a 41. Behind him were Jesse Helbling with a 41 and Reeca Thompson with a 54.
GIRLíS GOLF
The girls lost their first match of the season to Aitkin by 30 shots, 246-276 on Monday, April 10. Tasha Truskolaski led the team with the lowest score at 63.
The Tigers had three golfers score more than seven points.
One day later, the Tigers competed in the Pine City Scramble. The lady Tigerís placed sixth out of nine teams with a score of 185. Milaca came in first place with a score of 166. Mora placed second with a score of 167.
The Tigers next meet are Thursday, April 20 against Hinkley-Finlayson and Monday, April 20 against Onamia.
