Impact on traffic safety

TO THE EDITOR:

The debate over the proposed race track in North Branch Township has focused on noise, property value, environment and land conservation. I think these are all important areas of consideration. However, I ask those involved with the debate to consider the impact this track will have on traffic safety. In particular the car, truck and motorcycle volume on highways 95, 5 and 13 will increase as spectators and race drivers find their way to the track. Adding unfamiliarity of these visitors to already congested traffic patterns increases risk for residents of the area. If you are uncertain about the risk, take a left off Hwy. 95 onto County Road 5 toward Isanti some Friday afternoon, then pray that the driver behind you sees your turn signal.
