Girls softball struggles to score runs
By Steve Morris
The Vikings softball team was unable to put together a win at its first away game of the season. The Vikings fell to Saint Francis 7-1 on April 13.
Tiffany Good started on the mound, giving up eight hits, no walks and five earned runs in five innings. Steph Sax pitched the final two innings giving up one hit and a run.
The Vikings had seven hits but managed to score only one run.
ìThe Vikes left runners in scoring position in every inning but the sixth,î head coach Larry Brodin said. ìWith all those chances they could only manage one hit with runners in position to score.î
Good had three hits at four at bats for the Vikings and drove in one run in the seventh. Center fielder Megan Ranger added two hits and walked.
ìWere playing OK nearly everywhere except in hitting with runners in scoring position,î Brodin said. ìHopefully weíll come around and start getting some hits to score runs.î
