According to a press release from the Chisago County Sheriffís Office, a fatal car accident occurred at approximately 4:50 p.m., April 1, on CR-10 near its intersection with Crown Drive in Fish Lake Township.

Putting together witness testimony and information gathered from the scene, the Sheriffís office has been able to determine that a westbound vehicle driven by Robert Wesley Brown attempted to pass another west bound vehicle. Brownís sedan struck an east bound vehicle driven by Terrance Jerome Hassler.

The area in which the crash occurred is not a passing area.

Hasslerís passenger, Pamela Ann Hassler, 45, was killed in the crash.

Terrance Hassler, Brown and a passenger in the Brown vehicle, Marcus Vernon Loger, were transported to Regions Hospital in St. Paul. All involved were wearing safety belts and the air bags had deployed in the Hassler vehicle.

The crash is under investigation by the sheriffís department, assisted by the State Patrol Re-constructionist. Lakes Region EMS and the Harris Fire Department assisted at the scene.

Charges are expected to be filed against Brown.
