LAPD makes child porn bust
By Patrick Tepoorten
Acting on a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC), Lakes Area Police Departmentís (LAPD) Tim Tougas conducted a search warrant at the residence of Jonathan Daniel Lundberg, 18, Lindstrom, last week.
According to LAPD Chief Kevin Stenson, upon entering the residence officers were invited by Lundbergís parents to make a full search of computers in the house. That search led to Jonathan Lundbergís computer, which Stenson characterized as having ìmanyî pornographic images depicting children. Exactly how many images were stored on the computer has yet to be determined.
The evidence suggests that Lundberg was allegedly not only storing the images but uploading them to the internet, providing others access to the images.
Stenson stated that, in light of what officers found in his computer Lundberg ìmade several admissions.î
It is unclear at this time whether Lundbergís behavior was restricted to collecting the pornographic images, or if he was involved in their creation. ìMany of the images were transferredî from one computer to another, said Stenson, but he didnít rule out the possibility that some may have been taken by Lundberg. However, no evidence to that effect has surfaced yet.
Lundberg was arrested on March 29 for both possession and distribution of child pornography.
The investigation, led by Tougas, continues.
According to John Shehan, a program manager for the NCMECís cyber-tip line, the service receives as many as 1500 leads a week like that which led to Lundberg. Those leads, generated either from the public at large or in some cases internet service providers (ISP), are passed along to local law enforcement for investigation.
Anyone with information regarding child pornography on the internet is encouraged to report it at www.cybertipline.com.
