Two days of fun in Rush City at the 4th annual Music Festival

You wonít need a lot of gas in the car to have fun this weekend. Just travel up to Rush City for two days of musical fun. The Rush City Music Festival is set for Saturday, Aug. 19 and Sunday, Aug. 20 in the downtown park.

In addition to a variety of music, there will be arts and craft vendors, a classic car show, activities for the kids and a Saturday night street dance with a mix of rock and roll music by the ìShovel Shots.î

Vendors open their booths at 9 a.m. and at 10 a.m. Lisa Erickson will have music and activities for children.

Following that is a presentation by Clogging Premier, a highly energetic group of dancers, and then the Nienow sisters will sing.

More clogging by the Lake County Cloggers is at 1 p.m. followed by the Lofgren Band playing Scandinavian and folk music.

Sit back in your lawn chair and enjoy some easy listening by the Neighberz at 3, and blues and country at 4 with Kevin Lange and The Mississippi Drifters. Closing out day one at 5 p.m. is the Rose Family with a variety of country music.

The Masons offer a pancake breakfast Sunday at 8 a.m. at the Masonic Hall, near the park.

At 10 a.m. Sunday there will be an ecumenical church service led by Heart & Soul, with all offerings going to the Rush City Cares program.

At noon, Nina Paine will tell local stories with music. Get set for a treat with Fuego Tropical playing the steel drums.

While listening to this unique music, enjoy the ice cream social presented by First Lutheran Church and friends.

At 2 p.m. enjoy bluegrass with Highground and then itís the event all wait for each year, the Rush City alumni musical group with lots of laughs and good music.

Raffle tickets for great prizes are on sale. The raffle drawings will be at 11 a.m. Sunday and the grand prize drawing will be at 4 p.m.
