Baby dies under suspicious circumstances
By Patrick Tepoorten
A 911 call for a baby not breathing early Friday morning led to a disturbing revelation for Chisago County investigators.
A 3-month-old infant appeared to have suffered obvious injuries and was transported to United Childrenís Hospital in St. Paul.
Those injuries allegedly included broken ribs, broken legs, and a brain hemorrhage. According to Chief Deputy Bob Shoemaker, the baby boy died at the hospital on Saturday.
The babyís parents, both 21, of North Branch, were questioned in the matter by Chisago County investigator Garice Carlson.
An autopsy was performed on Monday by the Ramsey County Coroner, at which Carlson was present.
The results of that autopsy are not expected to be released until the week of August 28.
In the meantime, the Sheriffís Office has declined to comment further on the matter, saying only that the investigation into the incident continues.
