Drug bust falls short of expectations

By Patrick Tepoorten

Investigative work by local law enforcement led to the issuance of a search warrant Friday night, as multiple jurisdictions searched for a large quantity of methamphetamine.

The warrant was served at 39057 3rd Ave., in North Branch at 10:45 p.m. Officers from North Branch, the county SWAT team, State Patrol SWAT, and the Bureau of Criminal Investigation were involved.

As a result, five arrests were made. Of those arrests, one was for an outstanding warrant and four others for possession of small amounts of methamphetamine.

Mary Sue Patrick, 39, of North Branch was arrested on a warrant for a previous charge of theft. Alan James Patrick, 38, of North Branch; John Craig Grabenbauer, 34, of Rosemount; Dawn Chelsea Ann Plagens, 30, of Lindstrom; and Jenna Rene Freedlund, 19, of Cambridge were all arrested for fifth degree possession of methamphetamine.

According to the Sheriffís Office, the address was believed to be the delivery point of a much larger quantity of meth, but the drug in large amounts was not found on the premise. It is not known whether the drugs had been delivered earlier and already sold, or if they failed to arrive.
