Seven County Senior Federation changes name, expands territory
The Seven County Senior Federation (formerly called MN Senior Federation ñ Seven County) headquartered in Mora, Minn., has announced expansion of services in the region.
Starting Aug. 1, the Seven County Senior Federation began offering its services
in the Washington County area of East Central Minnesota.
Currently, the region serves Isanti, Mille Lacs, Pine, Carlton, Aitkin, Kanabec and Chisago counties. With an influx of new members in the Forest Lake and Hugo areas, the decision was made to extend the service area for members.
Seven County has been in existence since 1973 and serves the needs of seniors through senior advocacy at the local and national level, prescription drug discount programs, Medicare counsel-ing, discounts on certain health care services/products, and also publishes a monthly newspaper that is full of current information on those topics most important to seniors.
Seven County helped form the Greater Minnesota Health Care Coalition in 2003 along with groups in Duluth, St. Cloud and Rochester. The mission of the group is to promote health care accessi-bility and affordability for all Minnesotans.
The Seven County Senior Federation also operates a retail thrift store (the One More Time Store) in Mora. In addition to retail sales to the general public, the store also provides free clothing and household goods for disadvantaged families, and people in need, through re-ferrals from regional agencies and churches.
