Gottfred Arnold Nelson was born Feb. 28, 1912 to John A. and Annie E. Nelson and died on July 27, 2006 at the age of 94 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Allie, siblings, Wilford, John, Ted, Nancy and Violet and nephew Tome and niece Marilyn.

He is survived by sons Gary (Bonnie) Nelson and James (Caryl) Nelson, granddaughters: Julie (Lance) Morgan, Jo Ann (Chuck) Dolezalek, Tiffany (Dean) Buske, and Stephanie (Chris) Lyons; and seven great-grandchildren.

Gottfred worked as a mechanic for many years and always loved working on cars. His interest in cars stayed with him to the end.

The family is grateful for the loving care he received while living at Green Acres Country Care Center, and also to the doctors and nurses at Cambridge Hospital during his many hospitalizations.

Gottfred was a lifelong member of Trinity Lutheran Church, North Branch.

Funeral service was held on Monday, July 31, at 10 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, North Branch, with Pastor Susan Schoon officiating. Music \was provided by organist Deb Aulich and soloist Barb Mork. Piano solo by granddaughter, Jo Ann Dolezalek. Scripture read by granddaughter, Tiffany Buske and great-granddaughter, Jessica Morgan. Pall bearers were Robert Nelson, Barton Swanson, Butch Olson, Roger Olson, Dean Buske and Brad Wilcox. Interment at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery.

Memorials preferred to Trinity Lutheran Church Radio Ministry.
