The North Branch boys basketball defeated Cambridge Isanti 56-44 on Dec. 5.
The Vikings entered the locker room at halftime with an 18 point lead. To start the second half, Cambridge made some adjustments and cut into North Branch's lead.
"We countered with some nice adjustments of our own and were able to to extend our lead back out," head coach Bill Baumann said.
Nick Perrin led the team in scoring with 15 points along with three three points. Justin Novak added 13 more points which gave the Vikings balanced scoring.
John Lindstrom added seven rebounds in the victory.
North Branch was all over the court with their pressure defense that resulted in 21 points off of turnovers and a pick-up truck full of steals.
Novak played the role of Mr. anticipation perfectly. For the game he had eight steals while the team had 22.
The Vikings also forced the Bluejackets into 27 turnovers.
"Defensively we had a lot of steals because we played he passing lanes very well and we put a lot of pressure on the ball," Baumann said.
Baumann said he is still working out a rotation and has not become comfortable with a set of players yet. It will just take time, he said.
"We are still struggling to find our rotation and it may take us a while to settle into something permanent."
