The Rush City boys basketball team took 4th place at the St. John's tournament last weekend and John Kirchberg was named to the all-tournament team. In the quarterfinal game the Tigers held off Upsala 59-52. Kirchberg led the team in scoring with 16 points.

"We played a very sloppy first half," head coach Gary Dreissig said.

The team committed 13 first half turnovers and entered the locker room ahead by two. When the flood gates to the second half opened, it was all Rush City as the Tigers lowered their turnovers and had better shot selection.

In the semifinals, RC played St. John's and lost by three, 58-61. Senior Jeff Jennings was a one-man assisting crew, dishing out nine assists.

Jake Bosman led the team in scoring with 20 points.

"We played with very little desire and it showed in our performance. St. John's played with more effort and desire and deserved the win," Dressing said.

For the third place game Rush City went face to face against Swanville. The Tigers had to go against a 6-10 center and 6-6 forward which proved problematic. Keeping the game close was the Tigers 3-point shooting; they hit 11 on the game. Bosman hit four three-points and ended the game with 19 points.

"Maybe our best all-around game although it was a loss," Dressing said.
