Not too late to get flu shot

Posted: 12/6/06

The Chisago County Public Health Department will hold a Ban the Bug Influenza Vaccination Clinic on Thursday, December 14th from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Chisago County Government Center, Center City. The clinic is being held in conjunction with the statewide Ban the Bug Campaign, an effort to encourage Minnesotans to get their flu shot.

"December is not too late to get a flu shot," said Kristen Ehresmann, immunizations section manager for the Minnesota Department of Health. "The Ban the Bug Campaign seeks to remind people that there is still time to get their annual influenza vaccination." Influenza vaccinations can benefit anyone wishing to avoid illness but are recommended for people 50 years of age and older, people of any age with chronic medical conditions, women who will be pregnant during influenza season, people living with or caring for those at high risk for complications from influenza, and healthcare workers.

The vaccination costs $20 and is free to those with Medicare Part B. Residents are reminded to bring their Medicare and health insurance cards along to the clinic. It is also advised to wear short sleeves in order to make it easier to get the vaccination.
