Santa and Mrs. C pay early visit to Stacy

By Anne Thom

Santa Claus escorted his lovely wife Mrs. Claus to a holiday breakfast put on by the Stacy Lions Club and the Stacy-Lent Fire Department on Sat., Dec.2.

The two arrived by fire truck after touring the city, presumably making last minute efforts to verify who has been naughty and who has been nice. Santa is also known as Curt Ratcliff and Mrs. Claus is usually known as Donna Keacher.

Jerry Schroeder of the Stacy Lion's Club said the event has been held for 25 years. Stacy Councilmember Barbara Otterson, who was present at the event, said, "Between the Lion's and the Fire Department, this city wouldn't exist."

The fire hall was packed with volunteers, gifts, food and of course, community members who had turned out for the event.

Breakfast was served, including Christmas cookies and hot cider. Kids could visit with Mr. and Mrs. Santa to let them know what was is on their Christmas lists.

The Lions and the fire department were also teaching the lesson that giving is as good as receiving, making gifts available for kids to purchase for their parents at a cost of 25 cents.

Otterson was later seen catching Santa's ear. She told the Post Review, "It's (the event) a really great excuse to be a kid."
