Snowmobile training courses offered for youths and adults

The Chisago County Sheriff's Office in cooperation with Wild River Snowmobile Club will sponsor a DNR Snowmobile Safety Training Course for Youth and Young adults, to interested snowmobile operators age 11 and older who wish to obtain a safety certificate. Anyone born after Dec. 31, 1979 must have a snowmobile safety certificate in order to operate a snowmobile in Minnesota

The course will include four sessions covering snowmobile operation, basic maintenance, laws and regulations, clothing, equipment, and emergencies:

The classes will be held:

Monday Dec. 18 7-9 p.m.

Tuesday Dec. 19 7-8:30 p.m.

Thursday Dec. 21 7-8:30 p.m.

Driving test date to be announced pending weather conditions.

The sessions will be held at Shafer Town Hall. Students who enroll must be at least 11 years of age before the first class.

A parent or legal guardian must plan to attend the first hour of class on Dec. 18, and must bring a copy of the student's birth certificate to verify their legal name.
