Vernon A.W. Kressin

Vernon A.W. Kressin, age 85, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 24, 2006 at Cornell Area Care Center.
He was born Oct. 16, 1920 in Tilden Township to Arthur and Louise (Albrecht) Kressin.

He married Lois Boettcher on June 8, 1949 at Zion Evangelical Church in Chippewa Falls.

He enjoyed his work as a dairy farmer and was active in the Farm Bureau, FFA Alumni, and hosted numerous Farm Exchange students.

Vernon was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Church Council, Usherís Club, Tilden Lutheran Cemetery Board and Bloomer Historical Society.

Vernon enjoyed a good political discussion, doing research on genealogy and studying American history, especially the Civil War.

He is survived by his wife Lois of rural Bloomer, Wisc., two daughters: Paulette Kressin of rural Bloomer, Wisc. and Gwendolyn (James) Swenson of North Branch, Minn; three grandchildren: Karl, Kurt and Katherine Swenson.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Norbert.

Funeral services were held Friday, Jan. 27, at 12 p.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Bloomer with Rev. John Backus officiating. Interment was in the Bloomer Cemetery.
