Local gymnasts do well at Clemensen Invite

By Patrick Tepoorten

North Branch and Rush City/Pine City/Hinckley Finlayson (RPHF) competed at the Clemensen Invitational in Princeton on Jan. 21 and there were many top-five finishers.

North Branchís Allyssa Houle finished third in the uneven bars with a score of 8.750. RPHFís Kaitlyn Dahl finished seventh in the same event.

Bethany Dahl would garner a top five finish for RPHF in the balance beam with a score of 8.750. North Branchís Kelsey Lloydís 8.2 was enough to secure a ninth place finish.

Houle finished tied for third place in the floor exercise with a score of 9.150, while teammate Lloyd finished in seventh place. RPHFís Bethany Dahl finished in sixth place.

There were no top-five finishers in the all-around, but Bethany Dahl would lead local gymnasts with her 34.575 seventh place finish. Houle and Lloyd finished eighth and ninth respectively.

RPHFís Becky Osterdyk led her squad with a 8.625 finish in the vault, good enough for sixth place.

RPHFís steady successes at Princeton were enough to earn them a second place team finish with a score of 131.075; just over nine points behind first place finisher Wayzata.

North Branch gymnasts finished in fifth place with a team score of 126.050. Head coach Holly Saunders noted that Lloyd, Sam Jennings, and Darbi Berkman all notched all-time personal high scores on the floor at Princeton.
