Child care conference set for Feb.11 in Forest Lake

ìThis Oneís for You!,î a conference for parents and child care professionals, will be held at Forest Lake Area High School in Forest Lake Saturday Feb. 11, 7 a.m. ñ 4 p.m.
The keynote address, ìFinding the Balance,î will be given by Wendy Muhlhauser, founder of Jelly Beansô Creative Learning. Muhlhauser advocates the importance of implementing creative dramatics classes to enhance emotional growth and critical thinking development in young children. She also coaches adults in how to strike a balanced life so they can effectively nurture and love children.
The conference, sponsored by Professional Learning Alternatives, Inc., includes over 25 presentations by regional experts in fields such as infant mental health, self-defense, responding to multi-racial children and families, school readiness, parenting skills and power struggles, dealing with loss, reading activities for school-age children, and business practices, as well as CPR and First Aid.
Classes in SIDS, Shaken baby Syndrome and Car Passenger Restraint Systems (car and booster seats), now required for licensed caregivers, are scheduled in addition to fire extinguisher servicing. Exhibitors will also be on hand with resource materials and supplies immediately available for purchase. Exhibitor locations are still available.
The conference is open to parents and child care professionals serving children ages birth through school age.ÝA light breakfast and lunch is included in the registration fee. ÝCertificates will be granted for those requiring verification of training hours. Child care is not available.
