The Thrivent Financial for Lutherans Chisago County Chapter has announced the election of its new leadership board for 2006.
The new leaders are: president, Steven Mork, North Branch; vice president, Bonita Carlson, Center City; records director, Cheri DeYoung, North Branch; financial director, Janelle Mork, North Branch; and congregational service team director, Colleen Guilfoile, Lindstrom.
In addition, the chapter elected a communications director, Kathleen Nordaune, North Branch; an assistant financial director, Mary Kay Linder, North Branch; a community service team director, Anita Ryberg, Harris, a youth director, Wade Vitalis, Taylors Falls; and an events director, Eleanore Collins, Taylors Falls.
There are 1,378 Thrivent Financial for Lutherans chapters throughout the country. They meet regularly to carry out volunteer efforts and fund-raising activities to help their communities and people in need.
The chapter system is responsible for an average of more than 215 activities per day throughout the country and the distribution of more than $130,000 per day to help others. This is accomplished through Thrivent Financialís Care programs, which provide funding to chapters to help congregations and communities.
ěThrivent Financial for Lutherans and its predecessor organizations have a long history of reaching out to others,î said Steve Mork. ěThe Leadership of 2006 will continue this great tradition and continue to help those in need.î
Kim Holmquist and Alisa Lamb, financial representatives with Thrivent Financial, serve as advisors to the group.
The board will decide how to allocate resources to make the biggest impact on the community, ensure legal requirements are met and handle administrative work with the Thrivent Financial operations center in Appleton.
ěThe chapter system offers something for everyone,î said Holmquist. ěPeople can help their Lutheran church or their community. They can take a leadership role, volunteer for an hour or volunteer for 50 hours. Whatever level of commitment they are willing to make, the system can accommodate them.î
Anyone can join in the fellowship of a volunteer activity. To find a local chapter, call 1-800-236-3736. Membership is not required to participate.
