Albert Gottlieb Guse
Albert Gottlieb Guse passed away at St. Josephís Hospital in Bryan, Texas on Jan. 17, 2006 at the age of 74.
He was born to the late Gottlieb and Adeline Guse on Sept. 16, 1931 at Barnard, So. Dak. After graduating from high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy, serving his country aboard a seaplane tender stationed near Japan.
After his discharge in 1955, he began dairy farming near Stark, Minn., later purchasing a farm 4 1.2 miles northwest of Rush City.
Al sold his dairy cows in 1973 and began raising beef cattle and custom grain farming. After suffering a heart attack in 1982, they sold their farm and moved into Rush City, where Al continued his custom grain cutting operation.
They moved to Rockdale, Tex. in 1986 where Al began driving a school bus. Later they moved to Cushing, Okla. then returned to Anderson, Tex. in 1997. Al retired from bus driving in 2000.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Elaine and family: David and wife Kathy, of Rugby, No. Dak., Frances of Anderson, Tex., special daughter Tami and husband Mark Webster of Sand Springs, Okla., grandchildren: Caleb and Jade and Tulsa Okla, Bryan of the U.S. Marines, Christopher, Joshua, Ariel and Arianna of Rugby, No. Dak., Scott and Kelly of Anderson, and three great-grandsons. He is also survived by two brothers and their wives: Martin and Marlys Guse of Mission, Tex., Edward and Connie of Comanche, Tex.; three sisters: Erma Harmon of DeSmet, So. Dak., Evelyn Easterby of Puyyallup, Wash., Marge and Allen Moulton of Mission, Tex.; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Al was preceded in death by his parents, infant son, Ronald, son Richard, two brothers-in-law, Donald Harmon and Elmo Easterby.
Funeral services were held Jan. 19, at the Zion Lutheran Church in Anderson. Interment was in the church cemetery. Pallbearers were Jerry Harmon, Caleb Guse, Scott Scrivener, Russel Rike, Junior Tennyson and James Wenzel. Honorary pallbearers were grandsons: Christopher, Joshua and Bryan Guse.
