Bernice Demae Melin
Bernice îBunnyî Demae Melin, age 88, died peacefully Sunday Jan 29, 2006 at Grandview Christian Home in Cambridge, Minn.
Bunny was born March 24, 1917 at her parents home in Fish Lake Township. Her parents were Charles and Ruth Swanson. She grew up in the rural Rush City area graduating from Rush City High School on June 1, 1934.
She married Harry Melin on Feb. 26, 1938. They enjoyed 33 years of a loving and happy marriage until he passed away on May 8, 1971. She had two brothers, Gilbert of Rush City area and Charles of Shell Lake, Wis. who have both passed on.
Following graduation Bunny moved to Minneapolis where she became an excellent seamstress at Munsingwear making outer wear clothing. She attended night school for electronics and became an electronic assembler. Later she became a supervisor at Nortronics, a hearing aid company.
After retiring she enjoyed running a small resort in northern Minnesota with her sons and daughters-in-law. In her last years in Harris she loved reading, cryptograms and enjoying her family and friends.
She is survived by sister-in- law Bobbie (Jim) Bailey of Sun City, Ariz., son Wayne and wife Marilyn of North Branch, and son Jerry and wife Roselyn of Wyoming, Minn. also four granddaughters, one grandson and four special nieces and eight great-grandchildren.
A memorial service was held at Fish Lake Lutheran Church in Stark, Minn. on Friday, Feb. 3, at 3 p.m. with Rev. Dale Stiles officiating. Internment was in the Dale Cemetery at Stark. Funeral arrangements for Bernice ìBunnyî Melin was entrusted to the Funeral and Cremation Service of Rush City ñ Olson Chapel.
Bernice requested that any memorials be donated to Grandview Christian Home of Cambridge where she received loving and tender care for the last year.
