Dorothy E. Carlson

Dorothy Evelyn (Bauer) Carlson was born on July 8, 1916 in the Township of Heron Lake, Minn. to Herman and Pluma Bauer, Sr. Dorothyís siblings included: sisters, Lorraine and Rose and brothers, Wayne and Herman, Jr.

Dorothy moved to the metro-politan area during her high school years and attended high school and worked. She returned to her hometown of Windom. She was married to Harold Bauer and three children were born to this union: Margot, Gloria Jean and William (Bill).

They eventually settled in the Stark area. Harold and Dorothy eventually divorced.

Dorothy married Wesley E. Carlson on May 6,1950. They made their home in the Stark area. To this union four children were born: Garry, Dean, Michael, and Merrie. The family lived in the Stark and Harris area. They eventually bought a home in Rush City where Dorothy was able to live for 40 years. During her life she worked as a maid, nanny, home health aid, and factory work.

Dorothy had a love of life and was involved in many church and community activities. - She was known as ìGrandma Dotî by all in her neighborhood. She also volunteered as a foster grandparent.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; husband Wesley, brothers Wayne and Herman Bauer; sister Lorraine Aas; daughter Gloria Jean Springis; grandson Eric Robinson.

Dorothy is survived by son, William Bauer and wife Nancy of Champlin; daughter, Margot Bauer of Anoka; son, Garry Carlson and wife, Susan of Eden Valley; son, Dean Hahn-Carlson and wife Patricia of St. Paul; son, Michael Carlson and his wife Jacquie Biegner-Carlson of Stacy; and daughter, Merrie Rohweder of North Branch; 14 grandchildren; numerous great- grandchildren and great-great -grandchildren, sister Rose Kasal of Nebraska Dorothy died Jan. 30, 2006 at the Grandview Christian Home in Cambridge at the age of 89 years.

Funeral services were held Saturday Feb. 4, at the Fish Lake Lutheran Church in Stark with Chaplain Norm Norland officiating. Music was provided by Jon Ekstrom and Cindy Blesener. Casket Bearers included grandchildren Joshua Carlson, John Bauer, Bruce Bauer, Gerald Bauer, Melissa Carlson and Kristen Carlson with the interment in the Fish Lake Lutheran Cemetery.

Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Funeral and Cremation Service ñ Olson Chapel of Rush City, Minn.
