Ruth Glenn Holstein, age 90, of Pine City, Minn., died Monday, Jan. 2, 2006 at Lakeside Nursing Home in Pine City. She had been a resident there since May of 2003.
Ruth was born May 9, 1915 in Viola, Ill. and was the daughter of Jesse and Maggie (Glenn) Lindburg. She attended elementary school and high school at Viola and later graduated from nurses training in Moline, Ill.
In 1937, Ruth met Frederick (Fritz) Holstein, and they were married on Dec. 8, 1937. At the time of Fredís death in March of 2004, they were married 66 years.
Ruth and Fred moved to Pine City in 1946, and Ruth became an active member of the Pine City Community.
She is survived by her sisters Charlotte Olson of Alexis, Ill. and Mary Jo Tancredi of Westchester, Ill., her brother and sisters-in-law Andrew and Barbara Lindburg of Oskosh, Neb, and Joyce Holstein of Pine City, as well as several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jesse and Maggie Lindburg, her husband, Fred, her sister, Janet Smith, and brothers, Charles Lindburg and Leslie Lindburg.
Funeral service was at 11 a. m. Saturday, Jan. 7, at the First Presbyterian Church in Pine City with the Reverend Robert Brightman officiating. Music for the service was provided by organist Ruth Lovgren. Casket bearers were John Skluzacek, John Schumacher, Ron Smetana, Bill Brown, Mitch Buckley, and Don Mohr. Interment was at the Birchwood Cemetery in Pine City.
Arrangements were entrusted to the Funeral and Cremation Service, Swanson Chapel, Pine City.
