The American Red Cross Blood Drive will take place from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday, Jan. 23, at St. Johnís Lutheran Church, Rush City. The time from 10 a.m. to noon is reserved for high school students. Call Georgia Gaustad at (320) 358-4858 for appointments or further information.
America depends on volunteer blood donors for millions of pints of blood each year. Hundreds of thousands of patients literally owe their lives to blood donors.
Blood supplies typically run short in January.
The Red Cross urges regular donors and new donors to make and keep appointments so that blood supplies remain stable through the winter months. Bring a friend and introduce him or her to the great feeling that comes from being a blood donor and a lifesaver.Ý
Giving blood is safe and simple. If you are 17 years of age, weigh at least 105 pounds and are in good general health, you can give blood. Donors with all blood types are welcome; however O-negative and B-negative blood types are especially needed at this time.
