North Branch earned its third consecutive win last week, rolling over North Suburban Conference foe Irondale 72-52 on Jan. 6.
The Vikingsí defense forced the much taller Knights to make numerous mistakes and scored 30 points off Irondale turnovers. Matt Warren had 6 steals and Travis Peterson had 4.
Justin Novak (16), Jake Chambers (14), Warren (14) and Nick Perrin (10) all scored in double figures for the Vikings.
ìWe are starting to find our identity and we realize we have to come out and be aggressive from the start,î said Coach Bill Baumann. ìWe need an all-out effort all the time on the floor to make up for our other ìshortîcomings. In the last three games we are doing this. We canít be satisfied and get complacent because we have to come out each game with that same effort.î
The win makes the Vikings one of three teams in the conference who are undefeated in conference play. The others are Benilde-St. Margaretís and Cooper, both of which are 8-2 overall.
Perrin, a junior guard, leads the conference in three point shooting with 20. Novak and Warren are tied with Luke Barthold of St. Louis Park for the conference lead in steals with 7.
On Tuesday of this week the Vikings hosted the 4-7 Spring Lake Park Panthers (for the score go to Scoreboard Plus at www.ecmpostreview.com). On Friday they travel to rival Chisago Lakes, who is 4-7 overall and 0-2 in the conference.
