NB Winter Fest promises many exciting events and a medallion hunt

North Branch Area Chamber would like to invite families and friends of all ages, to the 6th Annual Winter Fest Feb. 11 - 19. On Saturday, Feb. 11, kick off the Winter Fest activities hosted by the Chamber with the posting of another clue for the First National Bank and Investment Centerís of America, Inc.ís Medallion Hunt. Clues to the medallionís location can be found on the Chamber Web site, at button sale sites and in the local newspapers. With a registered button the medallion is worth $500.

Vintage Snowmobile ride and Expo

Bring your ìold sledî and join us for Central Chevrolet Chrysler Dodge Jeepís Vintage Snowmobile Ride & Expo starting at 10 a.m. with a ride south on the Sunrise Prairie Trail to the SnoCross Races hosted by the North Branch Sno-Drifters. Enjoy the thrills and spills of the racing action out at Falcon Ridge Golf Course. Take a ìVictory Lapî and head back to Central Park to display your beauty and possibly win a trophy for your sled.

Chili Show Down

Join them for some award winning chili and you can help choose the 2006 winner. Fairview Lakes North Branch Clinicís Chili Show Down starts at 11 a.m. with the awarding of the ìHealthiest Chili.î Be sure to ìvote with your spoonî for your favorite chili.

Snow sculpting

Make sure the kids, families or organizations you know are registered to participate in the S & C Bankís Snow Sculpting Contest. This is an amateur competition starting at 11 a.m. They will be awarding the trophies and holding Door Prize drawings featuring an awesome give-away from Grand Casino Hinckley.

Ice sculpting

Donít miss the ice sculpting demonstration held in Central Park that will be on display as weather permits. Throughout the day professional ice sculptors will be creating extraordinary creations from gigantic blocks of ice for these sponsors: Andersen Corporation, Aquila, Grand Casino Hinckley, Provide Care, Tanger Outlet Center, A/C Electric, Allina Medical Center NB Clinic, American Legion Post # 85, Anderson & Koch Ford, Jennings, DeWan, Miller & Anderson, LLC, NorthStar Access and Xcel Energy.

Carriage Rides and Frosty skate

Be sure to take a nostalgic ride through the streets of North Branch compliments of Petersonís Country Mill and Community National Bankís Horse Drawn Carriage Ride starting at 11 a.m. Bring your skates and join ìFrosty the Snowmanî at the Municipal Rink. The Family Ice Skate with ìFrostyî begins at 1 p.m. with prizes, refreshments and pictures with Frosty compliments of American Family Insurance - Sanvik Agency.

SnoCross races and sliding in Stacy

On Feb. 12 the Falcon Ridge SnoCross Races continue. Be sure to take a break and have some fun at the Stacy park with ìSímore Funî Sliding with Frosty compliments of Herman Insurance starting at 1 p.m. Be sure to bring your own sled and enjoy treats with ìFrosty.î

Sled dog races

Finish off Winter Fest with a bang at the Falcon Ridge Sled Dog Races Feb. 18 - 19 at Falcon Ridge Golf Course in Stacy. Experience the excitement compliments of AmericInn Lodge & Suites, Fernwood Developers and Viking Coca-Cola Bottling Co. The dog sled racers will be both Pro and Junior classes. Concessions will be available courtesy of Boy Scout Troop/Pack 411. Bring the whole family for this exciting event.
