Remember the New Yearís resolution you made to get more involved in your community and do volunteer work? The Youth Service Bureau offers a unique opportunity to make an impact in the lives of first-time, low-level adolescent offenders and their parents. The Youth Service Bureau has openings available for adult volunteers to work with the Community Justice Program.

As a Community Justice Program volunteer, you will help juveniles recognize that their actions can hurt many people as well as have a high cost to the community. Volunteers talk with the offenders about what they did and discuss the impact it had on the victim, their family and the community. The main goal of this program is to help youths understand the seriousness of their offense, take responsibility for their actions and accept their consequences. It is hoped that once adolescents understand this, they will not commit additional crimes.

The Youth Service Bureau believes that volunteers are a very important part of their programs. Because of this, a screening process has been developed for all potential volunteers. Human service education or experience is not necessary. They will provide all of the training and support. All you need to bring is a concern for the youths and families in your community.

A short, informal screening process has been developed for all potential volunteers. This process helps applicants discern if their interest is a match to this program as well as helps the YSB ensure confidentiality for our clients.

This volunteer position requires one Monday evening per month.
