First baby arrives early on New Yearís

The gifts, which ranged from clothesÝand toys to a quilt andÝU.S. savings bonds, were donated by local businesses.

Baby Sarah surprised everyone, arriving two weeks early at 5:06 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 1, to become the areaís first baby of 2006, weighing in at 6 lb., 8 oz., and 19 inches long.

The family lives in North Branch where dad operates Benís Hometown Flooring. Mom is employed at Securian Financial in St. Paul.

The gifts in this yearís basket came from the Fairview Lakes Auxiliary Gift Shop and from Chisago Drug and Brinks Market in Chisago City; Snyder Drug, Lindstrom Foods and Designers Salon in Lindstrom, Rolseth Drug, the Balloon Shop, Carousel Hair Salon, Snyder Drug, Rapid Press, Marketplace Foods, Ace Hardware, Forest Lake Floral, Rainbow Foods, Cub Foods, Wal-Mart, Memorial Quilters and Main Street Bank of Forest Lake; and Bruceís IGA Foods and First State Bank of Wyoming.
