Relax, the streak is over

Posted: 1/4/06

When the Eden Prairie Eagles defeated the Braham boysí basketball team on Dec. 30, they ended more than the Bombersí 65-game winning streak.

They also cut short preparations that were in the works to accommodate what was guaranteed to be a media circus during the Rush City-Braham game on Jan. 10 at Rush City.

Going into the Eden Prairie game, the Bombers had won 65 straight games, five short of a new state record for consecutive wins. A Jan. 10 win against the Tigers would have tied the current record at 69óa prospect that had prompted Rush City High School officials to think through how they might accommodate numerous metro area media outlets that have been following Brahamís run.

Those preparations can be shelved following Eden Prairieís 80-67 victory last weekend. But a crowd is likely nonetheless,
since fans always come out in force when the Tigers take on their arch rival. Best bet: arrive early and be prepared to cheer the Tigers to an upset victory.
