Man thrown from cycle, dead at the scene

By Patrick Tepoorten

An evening ride proved fatal for a Stacy man this weekend when he was thrown from a motorcycle and died on the scene.

Jared Matthew Durant, 21, of Stacy, was traveling westbound on 425th Street in Harris with two friends, at approximately 6:30 p.m., when he lost control of his motorcycle. He and the motorcycle entered the north ditch, at which time Durant was thrown from the vehicle.

Although Durant was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, first responders from Lakes Region and the Harris Fire Department found him unresponsive to CPR.

According to the Chisago County Sheriffís Office, a witness to the crash has stated that Durant appeared to be coming down from a ìwheelieî at the time of the accident. A wheelie is a stunt that when, performed on a motorcycle, lifts the front tire off the ground as the cycle proceeds with only the back tire in contact with the road surface.

The crash remains under the investigation of the Sheriffís Office and Minnesota State Patrol crash reconstruction specialists. The specific injury that caused the death of Durant is unknown at this time.

your explaination of a wheelie is completely unnecessary.
